Where & How to Catch Cobia

Permit live in skinny water—grass flats, hard-bottom areas, and tidal channels where they feed on crabs and small prey. We sight-fish only, spotting tailing or cruising fish before making your cast. Success requires dead-accurate presentation, light tackle, and nerve.

We use fly rods, light spinning setups, and live crabs or cut bait. A single permit can eat four hours and a hundred casts. This is technical fishing.
