Grouper are typically found around reefs, ledges, rock piles, and wrecks in deeper waters throughout the Gulf near Tampa Bay. These structures provide shelter where grouper wait to ambush passing bait.
We target grouper using bottom fishing techniques with live or cut bait, dropping lines directly over structure. Strong tackle and quick reactions are key, as grouper hit hard and try to pull back into cover.
